Our Mission

Vittles For Vets  is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to making a difference in the counties of Southwestern Virginia. Our mission is to provide nutritious food items to veterans living at or below the poverty level through the issuance of $50.00 food gift cards. Cards are issued on a weekly basis to each veteran or as funding allows.  Vittles receives support from charitable organizations, donations from community members and corporate sponsorship.

Our client base is low-income veterans who urgently need assistance to prevent malnutrition.  It is estimated that the number of veterans who need services from Vittles for Vets will increase exponentially during the next five years.  Vittles was started in 2014 with only 5 veterans. Since that time, membership now exceeds 70 individuals and their families.  

Our service enables veterans to care for themselves and their families as well as achieve self-sufficiency. The cards allow the veteran to select nutritious food items of his/her choosing from their local grocery store, affording some dignity and freedom to the veteran. Your donation will help remind the patriots who honorably served our country that they are not forgotten.
